What do you think of your posture? Good posture? Bad posture? Does it even matter?
If you are wondering how to create ease for your neck or back, shoulder, hip, knee or foot…then having awareness of how to optimise your posture will really go a long way to treating the cause of pain/stiffness long term, rather than just treating the peripheral symptoms in the short term.
What is ‘good’ posture?
‘Good’ posture is how your body organises itself when you move as well as when you stand still, in a way that supports your goals. It would feel easy & light if the relationship between the muscles, connective tissue & joints work as a team with each other.
Where does it go wrong?
Repetitive patterns, like being in one position for an extended period of time, make certain muscles tonic & taut, whilst other muscles become un-used & almost ‘forget’ what role to play.
For example ~ sitting at a desk all day can lead to our neck craning forward & our shoulders to become rounded as the chest gets tight & the upper back gets lengthened
This is just one example that leads to dysfunction, coupled with perhaps the deepest core muscles not activating (going sleepy in effect) that cause a lot of the symptoms for people that walk into my treatment room in the first place.

Movement is medicine
The good news is, there is absolutely something you can do to counterbalance work-life posture! To help the teamwork of our muscles & connective tissue, I think a visual demo is required! So I’ve made a video to share with you today.
This is just one of the reasons why I LOVE the Vitality Method online classes – so much information can be shown easily & quickly in a video to get clients out of pain & guide them breath by breath from the comfort of their own home.
I hope this video gives you a little insight into the possibilities of what YOU can do at home too.
- Once you’ve watched it, do let me know how you got on! Part 2 will land next week!
