The #1 reason why your pelvic floor pain isn’t going away (even though you’ve been doing kegels)
Tell me if this sounds familiar:
🔸 You’ve been told kegels are the answer, so you do them—but the discomfort persists
🔸 You feel tightness, aching, or even pain, yet you’re told to keep strengthening
🔸 You’re starting to wonder… Is something missing?
If this is you, don’t worry—this is actually really common.
💡 The TRUTH is…
It’s not just about strengthening.
The REAL problem? Your pelvic floor might be overactive (too tight), not weak.
When your muscles are constantly gripping, adding more kegels can actually make things worse—leading to more pain, tension, and frustration.
But the good news? There’s another way.
By focusing on release and recovery first (before mindful activation), you can restore balance to your pelvic floor and finally get relief.
✨ If you’re ready to take the right approach, take a look at the checklist below, for hypertonic ‘tight’ pelvic floor, and see if this is something you need to address…because some symptoms DO overlap with a weak pelvic floor checklist, HOWEVER the recovery road-map is DIFFERENT for hypertonicity + long term freedom:

Symptoms of a hypertonic pelvic floor “tightness”
Do you experience:
- Can’t get a deep inhale down into the pelvis
- deep pain on penetration
- Pushing to start weeing
- leaking with sneezing, jumping, coughing, or a second bit of wee after you think you’ve finished
- constipation
- UTI risks
- Feels weak when you are lifting weights (this could be because your pelvic floor is already doing lots of work and feels like it can’t do more)
- SIJ pain, low back pain, neck and jaw pain
- Kegels alone make the symptoms WORSE (this is because the pelvic floor is already active all.of.the.time)
If you ticked a lot of these symptoms here, your main goal initially is to really tap into the release work of breathing wide and all the way round … you’ll see this in the very first video in my Ab Rehab 4 week Focus.
You may see improvement in 3 days if the tightness is new. If you’ve been tight for years, this may take much longer, which is why I recommend you have lifetime access, to repeat certain elements of this program whenever you need.
You must not stop after symptoms disapear, you need to keep working on your muscles long term to keep them firing up functionally.
If this resonates with you, let’s get you feeling back at home in your body with the Ab Rehab plan here.
