Why I Love This Post-Pilates Smoothie…
One of the things I learnt from our retreat in Portugal is that nourishment doesn’t have to be complicated.
Some of the most memorable moments weren’t the big events, but the simple rituals: moving our bodies, slowing down, sitting together in the sunshine and enjoying food that left us feeling energised rather than depleted.
This Vata-inspired (good for all, perfect peri-menopause) Post-Pilates Smoothie is one of those simple rituals.
Unlike many smoothies that are packed with sugar and served ice cold, this recipe combines protein, healthy fats and warming spices to support recovery, stable energy and satiety. The banana and almond butter provide a grounding combination of carbohydrates and healthy fats, whilst the protein helps support muscle repair after movement.
(feel free to sub the banana for berries!)
The addition of cinnamon and nutmeg doesn’t just taste delicious; these spices have been traditionally used to support digestion and help the body feel nourished and balanced.
For me, this smoothie captures the essence of what we explored in Portugal: looking after ourselves in small, consistent ways rather than waiting for the next holiday or retreat to feel good.
Because…sometimes self-care can be as simple as a 20-minute Pilates session, five minutes of sunshine, and a nourishing smoothie enjoyed slowly.
Have a try of this + let me know what you think!

One thing I often say inside the online studio is:
Small things done often, calm the nervous system far more than all-or-nothing bursts ever will.
Even 10 minutes of movement can change how your body feels.
Sending you love today, Jana xx
