Tired all day… wide awake at 3am?
If this sounds familiar, you’re definitely not the only woman telling me this.
You drag yourself through the afternoon thinking you could sleep standing up… then either can’t switch off when you get into bed, or you’re suddenly staring at the ceiling at 3am with a brain that has decided now is an excellent time to think about absolutely everything.
Sleep disruption is incredibly common during perimenopause and menopause.
Changing hormones can affect the systems involved in regulating our body temperature and sleep. Add in night sweats or hot flushes, increased stress, busy lives and sometimes changing mood, and it’s easy to see why sleep can suddenly feel much less predictable.
And poor sleep rarely stays just a sleep problem.
The following day we can feel more tired, hungrier and less motivated to move…this is not because you don’t have willpower…it’s a biological reaction to sleep debt!
We may crave more sugary, quick-energy foods and find it harder to cope with stress. Then we reach for another coffee to get through the afternoon… and the cycle continues.
So rather than trying to create the perfect sleep routine, start small.
Get outside in the morning.
Natural morning light helps regulate your body clock and supports the natural rhythm that helps you feel alert during the day and sleepy at night.
Its consistency that helps here…notice how a few mornings of doing this makes a cumulative huge difference to reset you.

Watch the afternoon caffeine.
If sleep is struggling, experiment with moving your last caffeinated drink earlier.
Eat enough during the day. Honestly.
Don’t spend the day surviving on coffee and good intentions, only to arrive home absolutely ravenous.
This is actually something I started working on 3 months ago, and it’s been hands-down eye opening to stop a 8pm fridge-raid (which then affects sleep!)
Create one tiny evening cue.
It might be putting your phone down 20 minutes earlier, stretching, reading, taking a warm shower or doing five minutes of slow breathing. Breathwork is FREE and SWIFT, in flipping is into the calm arm of our nervous system. (I’m in the process of filming my go-to 5 mins routine for Goddesses and the Online studio…watch this space).
You don’t need another enormous list of things you’re supposed to be doing.
You need a few things that work for you, repeated often enough that they start becoming your normal.
And that’s really what Vitality Goddess is about.
The women joining me have told me they want better energy, better sleep, less stress, fewer sugar cravings and help getting back into a routine.
Over five weeks, we’re going to tackle exactly that together ~ understanding what’s changing in our bodies and, most importantly, what we can actually do about it.
Vitality Goddess starts 21 September and enrolment is now open. Let’s take action together. Only 2 spaces left with the branded goodie bag GIFTED for joining us early…be swift!
